The « cuisine » and the vegetable garden

The cuisine offered to the guests of the Satyagraha House is entirely vegetarian and because of the heritage and respect of values inherited, no alcohol is served. This lifestyle is in line with the vows observed by Gandhi and in accordance with his descendants’ will. Our chef prepares dishes , desserts and homemade bread using the garden vegetables and organic local products. A degustation menu is also suggested for dinners as an invitation to visit various parts of South Africa via five most iconic South African dishes : from Soweto bread to Cape Town bobotie. During each meal , guests can choose where they wish the table to be set : in the large dining room, in one of the rondavels, on the large table in the garden or in a hidden recess between two rooms of the new wing when the weather allows it.

Satyagraha House vegetable garden supplies some of the fruits and vegetables cooked in-house. In partnership with Une Ferme du Perche, our gardener has been taught the latest technics and methods of permaculture inspired by Jean Martin Fortier… The first products born from this collaboration will be available from November 2023. A first in South Africa.

The restaurant is reserved for guests, with some exceptions depending on availability. To make this experience the better and the more tasty, only 10 persons can have dinner at Satyagraha House every night. It is then highly advised to book your dinner together with your stay.
